My PC won't boot up
If your PC doesn't load Windows, the cause could be either hardware or software failure.
Examples of hardware failure are:
- Hard disk drive (HDD) failure
- Memory chip failure
- Motherboard failure
- Processor failure
- Graphics card failure
- Peripheral failure
Examples of software failure are:
- Virus attack
- Accidental deletion of key system files
- Corruption of key system files
- Partial hard disk failure causing the loss of key system files
- Accidental damage to the boot sector or master boot record (MBR)
Hardware failures are quite rare and in most cases the cause of the problem will be one of the above software failures. Corruption of key system files and partial hard disk failure are the most common causes of boot failure. In these cases, PC Help Bristol would scan and repair your hard disk drive and reload Windows or any missing files. In some cases, we may recommend a full software rebuild to ensure the integrity of the Windows system.
